Jun is described in episode 4 of the second season as "Genius Storyteller. There is no story he can't tell. Good-looking guy". His stories usually drive other characters to tears even though some of his stories have a mocking purpose. He has previously checked out every book in the library Nozomu wants to read, and lives with his grandfather (a reference to Seiji Amasawa in [Whisper of the Heart](https://anilist.co/manga/35228/)). His name comes from the bookstore "Junkudo-Shoten" and Jun Kudou, its founder.
